Cornwall: legends and mistery

At the south-west corner of Great Britain rise the Cornwall. A fascinating land full of myths, legends and mystery that all along, has inspired, poets, writers and artists all over the world. We will follow coastal paths. We will walk through picturesque fishermen villages. We will walk through the hinterland fields, discovering old abandoned mines, typical farms and the famous mysterious stone circles.

Our base will be on the coast in little villages along Penzance bay, then we’ll move on to the stunning Lamorna Cove. We will visit the magical granite Island of St Michael, reachable when the tide is low. This Island is the twin of Mont Saint Michelle in Normandy, with which share legends and stories. We will reach Land’s End, the extreme and unforgettable western vertex of England. Starting from Lizard Point, a promontory with the lizard head  shape, we will hike along the southernmost  coast  of Great Britain which keep, the most emotional sea views. The sense of desolation and loneliness left by the remains of mines scattered throughout the territory, constituting the Mining Landscape to witness a sad page in the history of Cornwall. What else to say about Tintagel, the castle that the legend indicates as Camelot, the land of King Arthur, the Knights of the round table. DAY 1- ITALIA/BRISTOL/BOSCASTLE

Arrival at Bristol Airport and transfer in minibus to Boscastle. Arrival in hotel and introduction to the area and the program.

Arrival time in Bristol is suggested within hrs 1.00 p.m

DAY 2- BOSCASTLE/TINTAGEL/ BOSCASTLE

After breakfast, we will start the excursion from Boscastle to Tintagel along the coastal path, from which we could enjoy wonderful scenery; At Tintagel we visit the ruin of the castle of King Arthur, where  romantics poets identify the mythical Camelot.

DAY 3- TINTAGEL/ST. IVES/ ST JUST

Transfer in minibus from Tintagel to ST.Ives, along the way we will stop first at Port Isaac and then at Marazion, to continue on foot to the magical granite Island of St. Michael. The island is reachable  only at low tide and it is topped by a fascinating medieval castle belonged to St. Aubyn Family for over 300 years. Arrival in hotel. (dinner in local pub).

DAY 4 – ST JUST/ MOUSEHOLE/LAMORNA COVE-LAMORNA COVE-TATER DU LIGHTHOUSE/ST JUST

After breakfast we will move to Mousehole from which begin our excursion to Lamorna Cove, then to Tater Du lighthouse, to finally reach, walking through the fields, the most famous stone circle of Corwall “The Marry Maidens”. At last walking on field paths we will come back to Mousehole.  (dinner in local pub).

DAY 5- ST. JUST/ ST.IVES/ST.JUST

Day of relax to visit the picturesque village of St.Ives. We will have the opportunity to admire unfogettable scenery and to dip in the streets of this romantic town made famous by  world famous painters and sculptors. St.Ives houses more than a branch of the famous London Tate’s Galley, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden and other touristic attractions.  (dinner in local pub).

DAY 6- ST.JUST/ LIZARD POINT-CADGWITH/ST JUST

After breakfast we will transfer to Lizard, we will tread the southernmost  path of Great Britain, along the costs overlooking the sea. After a break at Cadgwith  admire the typical cottages and to refreshment, we will come back towards Lizard following  a particularly nice route  through fields. (dinner in local pub).

DAY 7 – ST.JUST/ SENNEN COVE LAND’S END/MINING LANDSCAPE

From St.Just and Cape Cornwall, which was believed to be the place most westerly of Great Britain, we will start an excursion along the coastal path towards  Sennen Cove, the surfer’s paradise. After a bit of relax lying on the beach, we will continue towards the hinterland for the second excursion trough the Mining Landscape, today preserved by UNESCO, time ago the land of miner’s work. We will visit mysterious stone monolith or “standing stones”,  as Men-an-Tol, Nine-Maidens, the striking Ding Dong mine and at last the Lanyon Quoit Dolmen. (dinner in local pub).

Sennen Cove: general ascent 656 feet, 3/4 hours, 5.6 miles;

Mining Landscape: general ascent 229 feet, 2 hours, 2.5 miles

DAY 8 – ST JUST/ WELLS/BATH

After breakfast, transfer in minibus from St. Just to Bath. Along the way we will stop for a half day  hours visit of Wells.  The  cathedral forms the centre piece of one of the best – preserved medieval closes in Britain, a collection of cobbled streets and a moat-fringed Bishop’s Palace. Arrive at Bath in the evening. Breakfast in hotel, packed or picnic lunch, dinner in local pub.

DAY 9- BATH

Day of total relax to walk around the graced streets of Bath with some of the finest Georgian architecture anywhere in Britain; in fact, the entire place has been placed on the World Heritage list by UNESCO. There will be the possibility to visit the Roman’s Bath, the Bath Abbey, The Royal Crescent, The Circus, and the wonderful Prior Park Landscape Garden  where you feel as if you get in a novel by Jane Austen. Breakfast in hotel, packed or picnic lunch.

DAY 10-BATH/BRISTOL Airport

Breakfast in hotel, transfer to the airport of Bristol, departure. Return of the place of origin.
